- I am sorry to disappoint you but I believe what you have is called a line
- driver.

- Gandalf was a major supplier of these units, back in the days when 9600 bps
- was popular. A line driver is a digital regenerative repeater that only worked
- on leased lines of short distances 1-4 miles, or within buildings.

- The fact that it has a 4 wire connection for the phone line is a clue.

- I am familiar with some Gandalf numbers such as LDS309 etc. where the
- LDS stood for Local Data Set.

- My recollection that the LDM was a time division multiplexer that allowed from
- 2 - 4 line drivers to share one line.
